Again, thanks for the link, looks like I might have to bite the bullet and get a price from them, I really hate buying stuff from overseas, but it looks as though I don't have a choice. Sad thing here is, I used to work for a company that was an authorised Amiga service centre, but I fear all their service manuals and parts ended up in a dumpster when they went under :-(
I purchased my A3000 service manual from these guys link when they had it on ebay (usa) [They have them every now and again].

Very fast shipping, and easy to deal with.

@slick

Don't want to spoil the business, but these prices hurt. It's normally possible to get a set of 4x1M ZIPs (8 pcs for 4 MB) around or below 30 EUR.
Your 4x256K @ 20 AUD each total to 160 AUD for 1 MB!! :-o

I had an A3000 with battery damage that was initially dead, black screen, no activity. Turns out there was corrosion on the two ICs nearest the battery (SuperDenise and maybe Paula, iirc). Anyway, I took these out, cleaned the chip legs of the acid corrosion and the sockets with a wooden toothpick and other implements of destruction. Fired her up and she works!

If the corrosion isn't too deep into the pcb, maybe you only lost the rtc function. Certainly in my experience battery damage is less catastrophic in an A3000D than for example in an A4000D.

If you need pictures of the A3000D mother board without battery damage let me know. I fully populated my A3000D's fast ram last year, I got the zips from software hut.

By the way, If you want 16meg of fast ram you need the 1x4 zips not the 256 ones! 60ns (PageMode) 1x4's are $5.00 each, 70ns Static are $4.00 each(Software Hut). Also you have to add them 4 chips at a time, If you need help installing let me know! I'd be glad to walk you through..

Erm, these ZIPs are 4 bits wide, so you'd need a set of 32/4=8 chips to make one bank of 4 MB.
