Default weird photogenics install symptoms

Hi,
Am having trouble installing photogenics v2.0 (I know it's fairly old, but so am I). When installed it crashes, and I have to apply the no-fpu-and-crashes patch form the PGS2 floppy. After that it works fine.

What is the best version of the 68040.library to have? I'm thinking this may be the problem.

My system is os3.9 on A1200 bliz1240&scsi kit wi 256mb 60ns Kingston fastram. The ram seems fine, as I have no lockups or crashes aside from this.

AND - after installation amidock refuses to open with the error - cannot open resource.library v44 - despite v44 still being in the libs drawer. Weird.

PS it's my birthday (twenty-bloody-nine) - if anyone wants to port autocad to the PPC amiga for me I'd be most grateful :-D

It sounds like the Photogenics installer has replaced some of the reaction classes with older versions. Try copying the contents of classes: from the 3.9 CD back again.
And happy birthday you young whippersnapper.

DOH.. didn't see Framiga's link

Thank you both for your advice - it turned out that the PG installer had installed a gadtools (1996) version of button.gadget over the 1998 version on os3.9 (the installer stated NEW and IMPROVED - didn't think to check it :-D ).

Undid the No-FPU-and-crashes install script instructions and - hey presto! It works!
I'd also replaced my archived 68040.library with the one from the os3.9cd - same version, but can't hurt to freshly copy it.

Weirdly, I had a "ramlib program failed error #80000008" on startup before I fixed the problem - don't know why, and it hasn't happened again - fingers crossed it won't.
