Default WHDload and dbpal/vgaonly questions...

Here is the deal. I'm currently using the comp. out port hooked up to a tv card on my pc to get a picture. If i get a vga adapter and a svga screen using dbpal+vgaonly would WHDload games show?

If no. What happens to thee monitor. No picture, dead monitor?

Does dbpal/vgaonly affect the comp/rf-output of the amiga?

I can play most games as it is, but some games are just to blurred to play and on top of that its kind of stupid to boot a pc to use my amiga.

I've tried to find a scandoubler. No luck so far. I've also tried to find a old monitor that can handle the 15khz sync from the amiga. No luck there either.

Don't you have an old TV you can use?

Yes I do, but the RF signal is worse than the comp signal. I want crystal clear picture. Or as close as it gets.
RF/Composit signal is just too blurred for games that goes beyond 320x256...

I think the upcoming version of WHDLoad is supposed to support DblNTSC/DblPAL modes, but I don't believe it's ready yet. At the moment, it only supports plain NTSC and PAL, with the execption of a few slaves that have been hard-coded to support the Double modes.

Assuming you use a Double mode for the Workbench screen and the upcoming version of WHDLoad, you could conceivably use the machine with only a VGA adaptor and a VGA monitor. You'll be limited to system-friendly apps and WHDLoad games, however. You might still need to boot up that PC for some stuff, too, but it's a vast improvement.

Are you thinking about 16.5b? There is aomething in the changes/history doc about dbpal.

What about the composite/RF ports do they get affected by dbpal?

I just went and tried the DBLNTSC mode of the new WHDLOAD.. but alas, nothing. By reading the docs, it looks like either the new loaders need to take advantage of it, or it's not quite ready. I couldn't quite get what he was trying to say:

- new: display promotion added to kick31emu, with that WHDLoad options
DblPAL and DblNTSC become working in conjunction with installed
games using kick13 emulation and supporting it

Maybe only 1.3 ROM games?
