Default Problem with a new toy I picked up

Well, yesterday I picked up a new toy..
an A500 with a PSU and a external Floppy.
My friend Alex (Hes a mod here) had added an extra
Ram mod that also had the PROC and went over the orginal
PROC slot. This board never sat right... no matter how I tried
I could not get it to boot.
This is not the problem

FINALLY my dad got frustrated, removed the expansion board and took a flat blade screwdrive and removed the 68000 from the expansion board. And Put that back into the orginal slot.. booted right up! This is the problem.. when it wasent working correctly the HDD spun up and detected, but now that it works the HDD never spins up and I have no idea whats on it or how to access it.. never used an AMI with a HDD before, (ive used an AMI 1000 since 1990 I was 5 yrs old, which has no HDD) how can I do anything with it Help???

Do I need to press a certain key or keys to boot from HDD?

The device underneath this metal cover, that spins up and sounds like a Hard Drive. you can see how i lifted up the keyboard its on the right side underneath it.

I cant find any info on the Amiga 500, or 500+ having an internal HDD.. but this one does.. is this thing an A600? I have personally heard it spin up and make normal HDD sounds.

Hi
what kickstart do you use?? Did that memory expansion (the one that didn't work - you wrote about it before) come with a kickstart switcher?? don't remember well, but I had a problem with a HDD in my A500 caused by the kickstart 1.3 ROM - when switched to 2.05 the HDD booted up, and worked (almost) perfectly.

BTW can you make a photo of it with the metal screen removed.. maybe some closeups of chips on it..

ok.. first of all..
does the computer have a numeric keyboard???
If yes, it's an A500, if no, it's an A600..
try to find some pics of Amis on net and compare to what you have..

Unless ofcourse it's not a custom made A600 in an A500 case )
