Do these exist? I got an Amiga 2000 floppy drive to use in an Amiga 1200 in Power Tower but didn't realize the drive is taller then standard floppies and it would take up two bays leaving an open gap in the case. I'd like to get a 5.25" mount kit for this floppy drive and put it into a 5.25" bay if possible.

The 2000 floppy is a full height so it may be hard trying to find one. but for a half height 3.5" they are a dime a dozen. You could just get a Chinon FZ-357 and use that, works great as a 880k drive. I have a few for sale if you are interested.

Anyhow, a suitably 'convertible' PC-sized floppy in a standard 3.5"-5.25" adapter should work well; a stock-sized floppy would probably still fit if you wanted to dremel the adapter's faceplate a bit -- but remember to use an adapter that's the full-tray style, if so, some now come as two pieces that poke into the screw-holes with a plastic clip that rides atop the drive... I know this because I had a 2000 that came with an aftermarket Teac or something as a second drive, and the "PC" floppy was too short to completely fill the hole in the case versus the OE drive.

You could also fiddle with popping off the 2000 drive's faceplate and cutting a new blank, for looks (something like a sheet of stiff acetate or similar, spraypainted black or white or beige on the inside, notched appropriately for the button and slot) ... then you could tack that to the PC-sized faceplate with hot glue or cyanoacrylate, not worry about munging up the look of the bezel, and end up with something rather bling. Might want to use some packing tape over the paint on the inside (or find some pre-colored thin plastic) so you don't have to worry about it flaking off if you're rough with it in use. I think that's roughly equal on the 'supreme pain in the @#$' scale, and might look cosmetically better than fooling with the Dremel and risking a slip. Just get the distances right, so you can insert a disk without bending or breaking the new 'faceplate' off every time.
