Default (just had two beers) Can you replace the 68040 by a 68060 in an A3640 ???

Forgive me for asking this question, but can you remove the 68040 out of an A3640 and mount a 68060 instead ?? Assuming of course you change the voltage regulators ... it´s probably not possible but I´asking anyway ...

It simply won't work for many, many reasons.

@Effi

Despitting all other circunstances, the 060 had another round of pins, one more, than 040. So at first you can plug it because not all the pins of the 060 are in contact with the 3640

Hum,
So it`s not just a case of dealing with the multiplier and voltage....

Oh well...

Hmm I don't think a 060 on a A3640 would make sense at all.. It would be slowed down a lot due to the lack of onboard fast ram..

I doubt even the voltage problem is easily fixed.
If the 060 isn`t 5v tolerent on it`s inputs, then they`ll all need level shifting to 3.3v, which won`t help the already dodgy timing on the 040 board.
