Well after posting about an 2 meg expansion for an A500 and getting my old A500 out of the garage today, I decided I would post to see if anybody has a Viper 530 they would be willing to part with. I always wanted one of these things but couldn't afford one when I was using my 500 way back when. I check ebay every once in a while, but I don't know how often they come up. If nobody has one, I would also be interested in an Apollo / Viper 630 for our A600. Let me know if you have something and what you would want for it. Thanks!

Anybody? Anybody at all? :-D I didn't really think so since I know these are fairly rare items...makes me feel like kicking myself for not shelling out the money when I had the chance when I was in highschool.

I'm not 100% sure about the following numbers, but I am sure that I'm fairly close with my estimate. I believe that there were anywhere from 10 to 50 Viper 530 cards released, so I doubt that it will be easy to obtain one. :-( It's an extremely rare card.

You actually SAW a Viper 530 for sale? From the information I saw, the Viper 530 was proposed and a few made, but never put up for sale. I have never ever seen one for sale.

A few years ago, when I bought my Viper 520, I signed Oliver Hannaford-Day's online petition for DCE to make some Viper 530s. Oliver said that even though they sent DCE a list of 60 people willing to buy a Viper 530, DCE never responded. I think that's when Oliver decided to start his Coldfire project.

I would love to get a Viper 530. Who wouldn't want 128 Mb RAM and a 50 Mhz 030 in an Amiga 500? If you find a couple Viper 530s, let me know!

Well, if that wasn't it, then I wonder what other 030 board with an IDE controller on it we had in the shop on display in a running 500? There was only ever one, but I am pretty sure this was it. Who knows. That was a while ago. It is possible I was mistaken and it was an Apollo 630 in an A500, but the 630 didn't have IDE (why would it with the A600 already having it) and I clearly remember installing the 630 in the lone A600 we had used in stock...Hmmm....fuzzy memory. Perhaps it was a Viper 520. :P Oh well. I can keep dreaming / searching.

I think I also have seen this Viper 530 and possibly on ebay a while back....................But also if I am not mistaken...there was a Progrssive 68040 also made that fit internally into the A500. I think I saw it in an AmigaWorld mag.
