US conservative groups are up in arms over a music video featuring children's TV heroes such as the cheerful cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants.

Focus on the Family and other groups say the video - a remake of the Sister Sledge hit, We Are Family - is a vehicle for pro-gay propaganda.

The video's makers plan to mail it to US schools in the spring to promote tolerance and diversity.

Tolerance?!? Diversity?!? What, in America??? We can't have that!!!

Do so-called "Focus on the Family" really believe that kids who would otherwise grow-up to be straight will watch this "pro-gay propaganda" and somehow it will alter their sexuality?

For instance, I watched Knightrider and the A-team (among dutch tv shows) when I was a kid..
It didn't make me straight...

I'll reserve judgement until I see the music video in question. There's nothing overtly gay about the TV show, but this BBC article hints at the fact this video was specifically created to 'promote tolerance'. We'll see.

How can a cartoon be gay? Is Spongebob dry humping Squidward :-? SB, Patrick, Squidward, Mr Crabs & Larry the Lobster walking in a line elephant style :-?

Nope, sorry. Values should be taught in the home, not dictated by some special interest group.

Besides as I already said i am reserving judgment until I actually see the video in question. You on the other hand have made a conclusion without actually seeing it, acting only on emotions.

The allegation is that there is a lot of hidden gay slang and meanings in the Sponge Bob cartoon. For sure I've never seen any. Well, except one REALLY circumstantial thing - his best friend is a pink starfish. ;-)
