Default Amiga.Org Dealer Award / Certification

The amiga community has suffered much from companies taking our money and running. Most recently, Genesi has fled from the amiga scene.

How about giving out an award or acknowledging publicly the really good dealers. Such could be voted for using the Amiga.org voting system here?

We could use this as a way of restoring confidence to potential purchasers - as there is far too much negative news regarding companies.

What do u think?

Samuar

PS//
i'm not a dealer. i dont have anything to sell you.

I think the biggest distance there is between company interests and community sites the better. As soon as any site tries to advocate a company directly they are opening a pandora's box of control, betrayal, litigation and disappointment.

Yes, but Pandora's box also contained hope. The gods didn't think humanity could suffer all the other stuff it contained into eternity if it weren't for hope :-).

It's a great idea at first glance. The problem here is that it would create controversy and cries of bias from the few out there that haven't quite reached emotional puberty.

Who decides? What criteria? Are site advertisers exempt or included? etcetera etcetera.

It's a mighty short list that would be eligable, anymore. ;-)

I mean, pretty much, we all know one or two vendors left in our country that we still trust, and that's about it.

I dunno about "dealers" per se, but certainly manufacturers. Those who have supported the community by creating hardware and software for the past, present and future of the community. Things that have actually come to light, not just hype and vaporware.

I personally have always been a big fan of Individual Computers, for example. A hearty salute to you Jens!

Mac Mini 1.5GHz, that might run MorphOS someday, when the fools who own it come to the realization that 30 minutes just isn't enough time to play with it enough to decide whether or not you like it enough to cough up $200.

- Someone please design SOME kind of DIY accelerator for the A4000. -
