Chinon FZ-357 saga continues
« on: September 24, 2004, 08:56:06 PM »
I jumpered as shown in this topic:

http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=11573

I also open the drive. I want to know if the J2 has been soldered. My drive has been soldered.

Could someone show a photo of a soldered J2?

But I have one problem. When I boot my A1200 with Workbench, I get disk icons like PC0:???? and df0:????.

Make sure the ribbon cable is on the right way.  You may have to flip the cable upside down.  Is the LED on all the time?  Also make sure you have the power connector on the right way!

I tried a couple drives and they worked without my doing the J2 mod.  (I suspect these drives must have J2 connected like yours, I can check to make sure)  I had 6 drives that all work. I tested them on a A600 and A2000.  Make sure you have everything connected right.

The diskdrive LED isn't always on. The drive boot a disk after a reset. The drive doesn't read a disk after the Workbench loaded from HD.

I found my problem. The problem was that the drive is made in Japan. Few months ago a got the same FZ-357 from an Amiga dealer also from Japan. It gave the same problem.
