Default Starting Over (or, "Punkie Does America")

I'm not sure how many of you are still amused by my occasional life-centric posts, I'm not around as much as I used to be due to the evil number of hours I'm working (uh... forty. Oh. Well, that's still too damn many.)

Every new song I write seems to be about escape. I hate my job and my house and this town.

So my dad visited (we can almost hold conversations now) and a few things he said made me wonder what's actually keeping me here.

My mortgage.
My sister.
My dog.

Now that the rest of the family are moving off to pastures new (France and Tenerife!) I don't see the point in staying here.

With the increase in property values over the last couple of years, I'm actually sitting on a good £20,000 here with my house. So I'm going to sell up, bum around America and see my friends over there, maybe write a book about it. Then when I come back (if I come back, he he) I can find somewhere new to start again. Somewhere relatively chav-free. I'd say completely chav-free but you can't expect a miracle.

Becky said I should go and do what I need to do while I'm free to do it. The only problem is Dale, I either have to take him with me somehow or give him up.

I've realised I'm 21 years old and I should have a life. I'll probably never forgive myself if I don't do this now... So that's my plan.

Tell me I'm crazy.

You're crazy :-D ....

However ive heard worse plans, i'd like to get out on my own too but currently my plans are limited to leaving the parental home since ive just started college. A close friend of mine is planning on leaving Glasgow too and i can see half my other friends going the same way or married in a few years so i guess when im done with this higher education nonsense it'll be time for me to ship off too, ideally i'd like to head to japan or china for a while but i fear the language barrier may be a big problem there. If its what you want to do, go for it. Do some research into taking your dog with you too. The only problem i can see with the US is that their chav's have guns :/

P.S Im probably missing some punctuation, feel free to insert your own.

@Punkie

If you don't do it now, next thing you'll be married, mortgaged to the hilt and in a career you can't take a break from.

I for one would be very interested in your writing, so go for it dude... Can't sis take care of mutley?

Maybe the US isn't as chav free as we all think. It's a possiblity that they have a different class of chav there instead. Maybe you could write "The Worldwide Guide to Chav Spotting"?

Thank you all for the encouragement. :-)

I think Becky would like to look after Dale but she's not allowed pets where she's staying now.

Wain,
I know some other people in IL too, so chances are I'll be around. I'll let you know. :-)

Go for it, Dude!
If you really can afford it(£20k is a lot of cash) then just leave! You only live once.

I'd love to do such a thing, but I'm stuck here with my gf and my mortage! :-D

Crazy is a good thing!

@Punkie,

I wish I could help with your dog. It must be a heart wrenching decision to make.

The essential prop for chavdom, the bountiful welfare state, is missing in the states. Single mums there work 16 hours a day to feed and educate their kids. Single ned mums here burp out babies every 9 months and the social pays for those kids until they die of heart disease 50 years later, having gone through all the petty crime, cheap gold, and shouting at complete strangers near McDonalds phases.

All thanks to all those unemployed scots, who have nothing better to do than to shag single mothers all day long! :-D

This from a nation that's given the world some of our greatest engineers and poets.

Kind of sad really... In a Trainspotting kind of a way.

One has to get one's jollies somehow

@tpg

Do it. I forget where I heard it (an orbital track I think ), but the saying goes "the funny thing about regret is, it's better to regret something you have done, than something you haven't."...
