I've given up on trying to find an exact replacement A4000T genuine case (everyone is out of stock), so I really would like to get the next best thing, which would be an AT case with I/O back-panel port holes in perfect alignment. Have a look at this picture of the back of the original A4000T Escom case. The mouse/game/serial/parallel holes must be exactly aligned like that or I will be forced to improvise, which I don't like doing. :-)
For example, I am using a full-tower AT case at the moment, but since the I/O holes do not match, the whole I/O ports PCB-plate is inside the case, and I used Sega Genesis gamepad extension cables to lead the ports outside of the case for a "somewhat" easy connection to the mouse and game-pad. This is really nasty looking IMHO, and I really want something spot-on accurate. I could try and saw-off the old I/O holes area, and mount my own custom made plate, that is if I knew how to do it...which I don't. :-) Anyway, on to my question. Does anyone have, or can recommend an AT full-tower case which is a perfect match for the A4000T motherboard, in every way? I see that there are even some new ATX cases out there, that offer support for AT motherboards, however the back-plate is totally unsatisfactory. :-( |

Yesterday I looked on SoftHut's site and they had an A4000T case without PSU for $99.
I might get one myself as my case has a dent in it. Tried to get in today but the page won't load, else I would have posted the link. |

99$ without PSU? Thats expensive... About 8 months ago I bought one from vesalia.de ( Now out of stock ) with psu and all the rails and screws, and stuff, for 41€. Thats almost the same as 41$. I thought that was pretty ok...

99euro isn't bad at all, especially for an amiga case (I payed much more for my A1200 tower (which was a pc tower with a custom backplane from Eyetech).
TBH I'd grab it where you can, as you say you're out of options otherwise.

Compared to 41, I´d say its pretty bad... Mine was an original AT case. But since they are out of stock almost everywhere, I guess they can charge what they want...

I've tried contacting softhut about a month ago and was told by Joe that they are out of stock. The website is pretty inaccurate, btw. It's best to call or e-mail them, and ask about whatever is it that you need.

If you do get hold of them before I do, please ask how many they have, because I'm going to go for it. I have been toying with the idea of selling the Amiga, but at the moment I am in the grip of nostalgia (it has been in storage for a year or two). So I'll get that case. I think I returned to the fold a little late: I've missed out on some peripherals I couldn't afford before, but now can. So here I sit with no Picasso IV, no DKB 3128 board and no spare case. Hmmmmm.... |

....and to add insult to injury, the peripherals that I DID spend my money on back in the late 90s are not so badly needed (Lola genlock, Technosound digitizer, Vidi Amiga RT 24 digitizer, external ZIP drive, external CD writer). That's because I did 15kHz stuff almost exclusively.
But the case, that will be nice to have... |

You were right, their site isn't updated, but they've promised to let me know if they get the items I am looking for. I wish companies didn't advertise stuff they don't have. |

I have an A4000T case with powersupply for sale. Only thing is that it's missing the front drive bay door. Contact me if you might still be interested. mkutz1@gte.net

Is it an original Amiga Technologies case?
If it is, and its in good condition, I am interested. When you say its missing the drive bay door, is the bezel still there with all the claw locks? Can you send me a picture and some details? |

The Escom and original C= cases were all produced by Enlight, and Enlight standard AT cases should have the IO ports at the exact same postition and with the same alignment.
I had a miditower from Enlight that had the IO ports with the same measurements as my 4000T, so I fiddled with the idea of putting my 4000T into a miditower. Never got around to do it though. Old Enlight AT cases are usually ten-a-penny on e-bay, get one and check for yourself...I'm 99.9% certain they are identical, with rails and all...

Thanks, Morley, that will save me a bunch, 'cos my bezel and door condition is fine. I'll look for those enlight AT cases. Hopefully I can find a UK supplier, to minimise shipping.
Edit: I was going through some of my old papers and I found the parts list for the A4000T case. The model is EN6360 and I can't find it anywhere online. ENlight has one or two similar cases, but the back is different, and even worse the front led and buttons have either been moved or eliminated. So that means no original A4000T bezel can be snapped on to those cases. And if I go without the front bezel I might as well start from square one and hack some other AT case. Do you know of another AT case that has the same rear cutouts as the EN-6360? |
