The saddest fact is that even if the girls responsible are caught and are indeed put in prison for the rest of their lives, any suffering inflicted upon them will be a fraction of what this girl will suffer should she survive. Indeed, I think in some respects it would be better for her not to.

My condolances to victims.

It's not uncommon. These people exist in all levels of society. Sometimes they go to jail, sometimes they rise to positions of power. If a country has insufficient law enforcement, such people can rise to rule a country. On the other hand, if the persons parents have enough political influence to protect their children, the same thing can happen.

In fact, having powerful parents can fuel a sense of entitlement and a feeling of superiority. The same can come from religious beliefs, and the feeling of righteousness that can come from this. If you develop the belief that your will and the will of G-d coincide then you can justify any horror to accomplish your desires.

Although I wholeheartedly agree with you...that doesn't do much for the poor girl who must endure skin grafts until she finally stops growing...very sad...very sad indeed :-(

What I can't understand is how many people are surprised each time they find out AGAIN that not everyone is good. How can they be surprised EACH and EVERY time?

I've met Hells Angels and I've met made men and one on one they are just good guys or descent business men, they can certainly project that. But you also have to be aware that they can be viscious {bleep}s when they feel they need to be and they can feel fully justified. I've also met other "respectable businessmen" and they're not all nasty peices of work, but some definately are. Maybe I've hung out in some questionable circles, but it tunes your spidey senses. I still give people I meet the benefit of the doubt, but when they start to show signs of being lying cheating scumbags, I don't overextend that benefit.

People that burn little girls for fun are no better than people who burn families for profit. They all need to be punished, but the more money and power you have, the less likely that's going to happen and that's just a fact.
