Bars & Pipes I'd say. The latest version is available here http://bnp.hansfaust.de/

It certainly can and I use it extensively.

I think MusicX is more straightforward -- or at least it's very easy to get started making music with it. I have B&P too, but I haven't put in the necessary time to learn this feature-rich package.

But if you want something a little less resource intensive, Music-X, Dr. T's KCS, and even OctaMED SS will work well.

By the way, can anybody else get MidiTracker working? As far as I can tell I've got all the requirements, but it crashes every time I start it...

OctaMED is definitely worth a look - great program. Bars and Pipes is also excellent if it's just MIDI you're after.

If your Amiga's up to it, HD-Rec is probably the closest thing to a full DAW on the Amiga. Combines audio and MIDI beautiffuly. I used it exclusively to record a couple of songs, although that was a good while ago now.
