Default Problems caused by the 3640 rev 3.0 board

I have posted on here on different occasions regarding the difficulties i've had installing a CV64/3D in my a4000/040 buster 9. A lot of helpful advice was given and tried by me but didn't really get anywhere at all, never once got to really use the gfx card. It would crash constantly with the 8000004 guru or just a lock up, whenever it tried to load the Cybervision3d driver or screen.

Was chatting to someone on hash-amiga.org about my motherboard revision (after mentioning the CV problem as well) and when I read out 3640 rev 3.0 (this meant very little to me) he replied instantly "well, there's your problem with the Cybervision then...do the fix on aminet and it will be fine". I was quite excited as i'd never heard about this before. Sure enough, googling through newsgroup postings many other people were reporting similar symptoms. The question is if I were able to change this board to another version would this solve my problems? I have an opportunity to aquire an Cyberstorm 060/mk1 and am curious if this will solve the problem once and for all!

This info might explain your problem >>>

http://www.amiga-hardware.com/a3640.html

See the descript about rev.3.0

Removing the CV64/3D will fix the problem. Replacing the 3640 with the Cyberstorm060 looks like the answer.
More horsepower is always good.

About the rev. on your 3640, I have 3.1(real one, not aminet-hacked) and have never had a problem with my CV64/3D so it might be that what´s causing your problem and I have used these two cards in an A3KD, A3KT and an A4KD. :-)

Yep... I never had a problem with my rev 3.1 3640 card and CV64/3d. Never owned a rev 3.0 3640 card, though. It might very well be the problem.

Go for the CS Mk1 '060. It'll surely give you a HUGE performance gain, as well.

Yeah go for the CS, too bad that the A3640 didn´t have it´s own memory, that had boost it up a bit.
