Default Voodoo

From another thread:
Quote:
Soundblaster 128, Voodoo 5 5500, Realtek compatible 10/100 networking card should be fine... though I've heard that the drivers for mediator doesn't support all modes for the Voodoo4 or 5 which might explain the number of Voodoo3 3000 setups out there.
Is this true? I was just going to start looking out for a PCI gfx card...

Cheers

Yes, it's true. I know at least one VooDoo5 user who had problems with the drivers on Mediator.

The VooDoo3 driver only works with most of the VooDoo4/5 cards by accident, although Elbox claims something else.
Better go for a VooDoo3 ist the save way.

Yup. The driver guys had documentation for the Voodoo3 chip, but not for the 4 or 5 models. Therefore they cannot properly support the 4 or 5 models. The Voodoo3 driver just happens to work to some extent, which is neat, but doesn't work percfectly as there are changes not documented for the driver writers. I also understand this is only for 2d drivers, and 3d drivers don't work at all, anyone confirm this?
