Default If you could go back to any point in Amiga history

When would it be?

For me the late 90s were magical. Lots of exciting rumors and speculation (which unfortunately proved unfounded), still some commercial titles being released and magazines on the shelves.

You could also walk into Electronics Boutique and buy Amiga games, how I wish that were possible today.

The day I bought my Amiga. A mildly rainy evening about 18:00+ (6 pm), ca 1989, I was sitting in the middle of an almost empty bus, with my parents several seats behind. I was holding my box in my knees and thinking about the amount of fun I'd have with it.

1989 when I got my Amiga 1000. Except I would prefer to have more money and get ready to buy an Amiga 3000 with an RTG when they came out as well as get a 286 Bridgeboard and live in the best of both worlds.

This would make a good episode of Quantum Leap. Maybe Sam could fix Commodore's "management problems" and make the computing world a better place.

I'd probably go back to the A1000 release year, so that I could get an Amiga early on! Whilst still enjoying the prime of the 8-bit years. Anything after 1992 was just rather depressing in Amiga-terms!

Back when I had my A4000 fully loaded with PicassoIV, sound card, Cable Internet and a huuuuuge 17" CRT monitor

These were the days for me...

1991-1992: no doubt the best time for the A500. :-)

I'd go to April 1995 and try to ensure that Commodore UK won the bidding to buy the group.

Or I'd go back earlier and try to influence the designers to use standard parts to help make the Amigas cheaper and more easily upgradable e.g. PCI, standard SIMMs etc

Yup. Definitely something like that I had in mind, so we probably could still be buying new C= Amigas these days. Nothing would beat THAT future. And ofcourse some PC-compatible standards included, so Amiga could be still affordable for "the masses".

1992 when I got my A1200. Good times and the first computer in our home.

I miss walking into EB and looking at the Atari and Amigas with all their games on the wall.

Or reading and old game magazine and going through paragraph after paragraph saying,"but if you are lucky enough to own an Amiga, buy this for that instead of Mac or (shiver) PC".

It was a hopeful world back then, computers were actually interesting and we designed to be used by the user rather than use the user.

I wish we could roll back the clock and give Commodore the chance to better market them selves and to release that fabled Amiga that was supposed to come out with the triple A chip set and Mac and PC compatability.

I love the Quantum Leap idea, but some of the best add on hardware was being developed, made and sold around the late 1990's and early 2000's

"Hello, I'm from the future. You've got to fire Mehdi Ali and Bill Syndes! The fate of the world is at stake! Please, listen to me!"

Yes, I've thought about how this conversation could be handled without sounding completely insane. No, I haven't come up with a good answer.
