Default How to remove A2000 motherboard

Ok, I'm trying to replace the battery on my A2000 with one of the round lithium batteries. First step to remove the motherboard. Should be easy right?

I can't for the life of me get this thing off! I've removed all the screws, removed the hex screws on the back. I can get the board about half way up but it's bending in the middle. I'd have to snap it in half to get it out of there.

I've triple checked that all the screws are removed. Am I an idiot that I can't get this off? Is there a trick I'm missing?

Having recently done this myself, I can tell you that you need to pull up and forward to release the board from the rear cutouts. And remember that you'll be taking out the board and the RF shield together, which you'll have to detach afterwards (slip it over the mouse ports).

Oh c'moon couldn't be that hard! You should lift front of the mobo first (where's mouse/joy ports) and then slide it toward you upwards. I just recently removed 3 (read three) A2000 mobos with no problem. Also check that you have removed two longer screws (one on mouse/joy port and second on diskdrive port)! Good luck.

I finally got it out but I wrecked the case in the process (sometimes I need to be more patient). I had in fact missed one screw, but ya the trick was to slide it forward first. Not a big deal as this was a spare system I had to muck with.

That said, anyone interested in a Rev 4.5 board with some moderate acid damage???

After my dry run I was able to upgrade the battery on by Rev 6.2 board. Looks snazzy!

Now I just need to do a recap and this baby is good to go. Thank God these Amigas are through hole components and not surface mount like my old Macs.

I have one of those battery kits I bought a while back but I still have not gotten around to installing it. I am still searching for a solid reason why I really need one. Is there really any big benefits to having a battery?

Looks good, Is this the AmigaKit coin cell? I think they were looking for a pic of one in a A2000...
