I have an A1200 that I towered in a Noblesse tower from Revanche LLC some years ago.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/blakesp...57604300573758 Its PC power supply since died. I went to replace it but found that no modern PSUs have the Six Pin Auxiliary Power Cable needed to mate with the custom cable that the tower came with, that plugs, in turn, into the A1200's rear power input. http://www.playtool.com/pages/psucon...onnectors.html I bought a standard PSU and wired it up to fit with the end from the dead PSU, but now I am having issues. My A1200 won't boot -- sits on grey screen most of the time. I think it's a power issue. Where can I get either a PC PSU that has that Six Pin Auxiliary power connector OR a more modern cable to mate with a current PC PSU and plug into the A1200 back input for power. Yes, I am feeding power into the A1200 mobo via the floppy power connector. Thanks. bp

What about our Z4 ATX Power Adapter Cable:
http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/...roducts_id=959 This could be used on the A1200 motherboard with an ATX PSU.

are the voltages right?
you said you "wired it up to fit with the end from the dead PSU" but then you also said "I am feeding power into the A1200 mobo via the floppy power connector" are you saying that you're using one of the hard drive power connectors from the power supply to connect to the A1200? does the power supply even power up? fan come on? check the voltages before you plug the A1200 in of course... :/ |

Take a picture, a lot easier to give answers then when we can see how you have done, an ATX psu needs a on signal to start, you do that by taking the green wire from the 20/24 pins motherboard connector and connect it to any of the ground cables (black ones), try with a paper clip green to black. Also the negative 12v is the blue cable on the 20/24 pin connector.

@AmmoJammo
Well blakespot says in his first post that he needs a Six Pin Auxiliary Power Cable and provided a link in the same post that has a picture of a six pin auxiliary power cable identicle to the one in the image i posted so assumed it was the same ? I also see that in your photo you are showing a p8 and p9 AT psu not a six pin auxiliary power cable from an atx psu? Last edited by carvedeye; 08-21-2012 at 03:10 PM.. |

well, if you think the Amiga 1200 will run off +5 and +3.3volts, then by all means, send him the power supply.
Blake was probably just not sure what power supply he had ![]() you can see the cable here that he appears to be using: http://www.flickr.com/photos/blakesp...3758/lightbox/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/blakesp...3758/lightbox/ first and last wires are missing from the connector, leaving him with Ground, -12v, +12v, +5v. |

Well blakespot can use whatever PSU he can find, just cut and solder from PSU to your connector so any ATX PSU will do, don't forget to use activity/on (green wire) with your power button to ground.

exactly...
but check the voltages at the motherboard connector before plugging it in to the A1200, or you'll quite possibly end up with a dead Amiga! If you connected your old wiring adapter to the ATX powersupply, simply matching colours, you would have been applying 3.3volts, where its meant to have -12volts... :/ Last edited by AmmoJammo; 08-22-2012 at 01:58 AM.. |
