I got a NOS DFE-670TDX off ebay for $1 which is a card supported by CNET.DEVICE

it is a very nice card that does not need a separate RJ45 dongle and was well worth getting even though the shipping was $10

The card works great with MIAMIDX and I tested it with powerline adapter and it picked up the IP address and worked perfectly. The 1200 seemed noticeably faster with iBrowse compared to what i am used to with the prism2.

I don't have enough powerline adapters, so i thought i would use a DWL-G820 which is a RJ45 to wireless converter. Also, I'm not sure i want my A1200 plunged into the power-line

The converter is configured correctly for my network which i confirmed with my netbook.

When i try the 1200 with the DFE-670 pluged into the DWL-G820 i get a 100mb link light on the DFE, but MiamiDX fails to pick up an IP address.

I tried setting the IP address to static but after going online I'm unable to "miamiping" anything including the DWL-G820.

Is it possible this hardware just does not work together? Very strange.

I ordered more power-line adapters from ebay... The netgear 85MB ones are very cheap second hand. The configuration software says of the 3 i have connected the slowest one is going 78MB. Also these older ones(XE104) seem to have 4 ports where as I see all the newer ones seem to only have 1 port!

Any ideas?

Try to replicate the problem with your windowz/linux machine first. Those PCs have better tools for troubleshooting network problems.
Check if the duplex setting and speed is correct and matching, you could use Wireshark to see if the packets have any CRC errors or are invalid length and so on.

Not so strange considering the ages of the TCP/IP stacks involved. 1) DHCP works best for the Amiga in my experience (well static never worked) and although I can't connect to my Win 7 PC, I print across my network to 2 different printers, and access the net easily. 2) I've had a perfect experience with the ZuniDigital ZR301F Wireless Bridge/Router/Range extender. NewEgg sells them in the mid-thirty range and I have 3 placed around the house. One is in my office on a 5 port switch handling 5 devices.

Don't have a any other PC with PCMCIA slot other than my Powerbook5,8 with MorphOS 3.0 trial.

The DWL-G820 RJ45 to WiFf converter works fine with my netbook and other machines. It just seems to not like the DFE-670 or perhaps the MiamiDX stack.

I just picked up a Netgear WNCE2001-100NAS which is a device similar to thee DFE-670 but a lot newer and smaller and worked the first time

Wow.. There's not many 100Mb PCMCIA cards...
It's my understanding that the PCMCIA bus is only really capable of 20Mb or so...

I wonder if the DWL-G820 doesn't like the slower speeds that card is putting out..

Yeah.. tell me about it...

I spent a lot of time searching for a card with the these features:


0. A1200 compatible (not cardbus) a lot just don't work

1. No stupid dongle to break.

2. 100MB


Don't know what the issue with the DWL-G820 is... I would think it should work... Both being d-link devices! Well, guess thats just too much d-link and i needed to throw some netgear in the mix.
