Thumbs up Computer social experiment gone Right: Moobunny fixed.

I thought John finally shutting down Moob's two most (in)famous vandals merited its own thread, since the title of the original no longer reflects current events.

Thanks as always, Mr. Shepard!

And as an added bonus:

A working frontpage!
I always thought the "We have other message boards" link leading to a blank page was intentional irony rather than just an oversight.

It's good to see. I know it's not everybody's cup of tea, but I reckon that now the spammers will have to do it the hard way, they might just give up and some of the original flavour will return.

Without them, the usual scurra and rumour mill should get back into action, along with the various (sometimes strange) ebbs and flows that only unmoderated sites tend to have.

While I don't mind the lack of moderation, a skoshe or two more security would be fantastic. A lot of boards I visit have a "you must wait n seconds before posting again" tool built in; I wonder if John could create something like that.

looks like moobunny is getting heavily moderated now, a lot of post being removed since yesterday and not one of them was spam... so there goes the ebbs and flows that only unmoderated sites tend to have. it is a bit sad if this is the new way of moobunny, i expect moobunny will die now. i was not a regular reader of moobunny, but like the rest here, i did checkout the site now and then. for some giggles and maybe pick up a rumor or two, that later turned out to be the truth. i guess we will not have that anymore now if this heavily moderating continue. then the cause of moobunny cease to exist, we all can just stick to amiga.org or amigaworld.com.

The only threads I noticed that were deleted were worthless posts. Considering the amount of time Squid has thrown into Moo over the weekend, I don't blame him for having a low tolerance of crap posts at this point in time. In the roughest biker's bar, there are rules of conduct and consequences for violating them.

I don't think that's moderation, I think it's the "3 day bug" John was alluding to when he posted. Basically, the index grid seems to miss out "yesterday". I suspect all those threads might reappear in the "2 days ago" column soon.

I think the captcha more than does that already. I suck badly at those and usually have to request a few before I get a one I can read.

reCAPTCHA is easier than it looks. In fact you need to only get the "easier" word right, the 2nd illegible one doesn't need to be correct. See the explanation here: https://www.google.com/recaptcha/learnmore
