Why? There is no warranty to worry about. Without some fixes, this is one of the least compatible A1200 models you could buy.

I only really wish to expand my a1200 DD with accelerators.
Upon reading it could be a 1D4 mobo, but wont know for certain until I look. I have a Amitek Hawk 4/8mb ram card I could put in my pristine AT a1200 model. I do have the heavy type A500 PSU, it weighs a ton, literally lol... |

OK that is what I bid and won, but to get to me in the UK it will be doing near 5000 mile journey over the Atlantic, I'm taking a big risk... Aren't they worth considerably more? £250-300? |

I've excatly same card, it is good that it games with working sim. It could be a problem to find working one.
It requires fan all the time, to keep it cool. RemApollo is something that you should try out, it is like blizkick but for apollo boards |

It varies what they bring in, the ones with the mach131 are worth more, since they can be upgraded to 060.
You might just be lucky

I had one of these back in the day (1996-1999), it really felt fast but the fan was noisy and it barely fitted into the trapdoor expansion bay (and with the large 3.5" drive I had also shoehorned into the case, as well as the quirky SCSI controller card, the case had a bit of a bulge in the middle.

I have one of these myself and regarding the trapdoor all I do is slot the trapdoor cover on, but I don't clip it. Nor do I have a "levitating" Amiga as that would bug the hell out of me....I like the original level of the Amiga, so no extra height feet on mine. The cpu will get hot though, very hot...just make sure that that custom rig is blowing plenty of air past the cpu surface. Also bear in mind that with the top Amiga cover removed, it will cool much better than when the cover is on. As regarding ram compatibility, I can't say I've had any any problems with my Apollo, and infact it seems to be happy with any simm I throw at it, providing it doesn't physically conflict with the card. Enjoy your card when it comes.
