I have an A4000 that was working that I recently sold on eBay (it was powering up just fine when I boxed it up). The buyer is stating that they cannot get it to boot - it just does two shades of grey. My guess is the CPU card has become unseated. It obviously won't flash the floppy light if it doesn't boot. (I explained to the buyer that the CD ROM drive will flash, that's just the CD's internal diagnostics.)

Hi mate had a look on the internet and came up with this http://en.allexperts.com/q/Amiga-Pro...D-hardware.htm
like you said could be a loose CPU / CPU board or maybe the ROM chips need a slight push to reseat them. This link may help http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power-o...Screens_Scheme the A4000 may of failed the hardware checks and the cards need re-seating. |
