Well it only confirms that it is still quite useless performance wise.
Considering how the emulation is limited to single core (and it cannot be easily distributed between multiple cores), it could take a while until the emulation can be useful solution. Last edited by Piru; 05-06-2012 at 04:57 AM.. |

yes, macosx is complex os for pearpc maybe.
i like to see if an OS like MOS or OS4 could be emulated and with good performance.. but i think it's an impossible dream..

It has nothing to do with the OS. x86/amd64 are still just too slow.
The 3rd video shows some xbench results. Quickly comparing say "AltiVec Basic" result against PowerBook G4 1.67GHz: 22.15 vs 322.65. That is, PowerBook G4 1.67GHz is 14.6 times faster. Not quite G4 2.25GHz performance, but rather G4 114 MHz. Other results are much closer of course, and in memory and memory bound results it can even be faster. However, when it comes to number crunching (especially AltiVec accelerated) the real deal is still considerably faster. Last edited by Piru; 05-06-2012 at 05:46 AM.. |
