Default Amiga 3000T & A500

Is anyone interested in a 3000T or an A500? My dad has owned them for many years and they haven't been used in 5-10 years. I would like to sell them if possible. He also has a lot of other stuff and I don't know if any of it is usable or has any value - Advanced Amiga Analyzer, lots of software, several books, lots of Amiga magazines. He is in the early stages of dementia, so he can't use it anymore. He was a huge Amiga enthusiast and I hate to see all of this go to waste. No idea what it would cost to ship it - I'm southeast of Phoenix. I have lots of pictures but don't know how to attach them to this.

Thanks!

Would you provide a list of stuff you have?

I'm atleast interested in the Advanced Amiga Analyzer.

The stuff I've found is:
300T, HDD 200MB (that's all I have on it)
Commodore 2002 monitor
Commodore Amiga keyboard
Analyzer looks like it may not have been used (for A500, A2000, A3000 & A4000)
Bigfoot Amiga 500 power supply
Amiga 1010 external 3.5 disk drive
8372 Agnus (1/2 meg) chip (? - that's what index card says)
Amiga A500 - looks like battery was removed and is taped to the front (?)

There's also a lot of software, esp music stuff, and quite a few books, plus tons of floppy disks.

This has been a bit of an ongoing saga with me not having a monitor cable or being able to find the battery on the motherboard, but the good news is that I just got things hooked up (even finally found the monitor cable!), and it boots up!!! I got it to run a DIR, but don't know how to find out how much RAM it has, etc, since a few people have asked about that. I haven't used DOS much in years, and don't know Amiga at all.

I have had 5 responses with people interested in the 3000 so far, so I'm a little surprised. Guess Dad was right - he has been saying he believed the unit still had some value for quite a while. I have no idea what either unit is worth or what a fair price would be, so I'm going to have to trust that people will make us a fair offer. I just need to get rid of things Dad can't use anymore to simplify his life a little and get rid of some of the clutter. If someone can make use of it, that would really make me (and him) feel good at the same time!

I"m going to try to paste the link to the photos on Picasa, but not sure if it will work as I'm just guessing on how to use this system.

https://picasaweb.google.com/GrandmaLynn2/AmigaPhotos?authkey=Gv1sRgCIuogOb22u77qAE&feat=ema il

I added a few photos of the monitor showing the prompt up and running, and the results when I asked for a directory. Hope they are helpful in showing what Dad has.

Lynn

By the way, anyone know the command to give it to shut down? I don't want to leave it running all night and don't want to shut it down improperly.

Thanks!

In Amiga-world, shutdown ist not necessary (and so not available). Just wait until disk-activity is finished and all programs are closed and then switch it off.

Well, I got some feedback on the 3000T and it looks like it might be more valuable than I thought. Dad was sure happy to hear that! Unfortunately when I got it booted up and running, he had no idea how to use it anymore or what any of the parts were that I found, so that's sad for me. Not easy to watch a loved one go downhill, but at least we can be here to try to make the rest of his life as happy as possible.

Thanks to all of you who have been so helpful with info on what we have here and tips on getting it up and running! I think at this point we will probably get an estimate on cost for packaging it up safely and shipping it, plus insurance, because I saw a couple of posts about bad shipping results. I'll probably put it and the extra parts on either ebay or amibay - I'm more familiar with ebay.

Even though Dad doesn't remember much about using the Amiga, he is still very enthusiastic about how great it is/was. It's nice to see there are others who share his enthusiasm and appreciation of Amigas!

Thanks again! You have made this process a little easier for us!!!

Dear Lynne,

thank you for posting the information about the A3000, A500 & all the hardware and software.

I can see your father was a dedicated enthusiastic Amiga user and follower of the Amiga community (look at the software & hardware).

I bet there are lots of files pictures & information stored on the floppy disks and hard drive, from years gone by, & may help remind your father of time spent with his Amiga.

Yes the A3000 Tower is worth a number of $$$ and is a legendary & special computer desired by most of the Amiga community.

I have tears in my eyes reading your story, but hope that maybe some of the information retrieved and the items sold will bring a little help and a feint spark of treasured memories.

What is the Commodore Amiga Keyboard? another A3000 keyboard?
I'd be interested if it is.
