What is the difference between those boards that make Cyberstorm take only 128MB compared to Blizzard's 256MB?
Is there any way of fitting 256 megs in Cyberstorm PPC?

This is also my question? I have CPPC and max 128Mb of memory.
Is any hack/patch/solution to add more memory on CPPC. (without any other card).

The key differences are:
CSPPC memory controller is 64-bit and requires memory installed in pairs. BPPC memory controller is 32-bit and memory can be mixed and matched. CSPPC memory access is considerably faster due to it being 64-bit vs 32-bit. BPPC can have 256MB ram VS 128MB on CSPPC. Other key differences that should be mentioned: CSPPC SCSI controller is UW-SCSI3 (40MB/s theoretical maximum speed) BPPC SCSI controller is Fast SCSI2 (10MB/s theoretical maximum speed) CSPPC has a 604e PPC cpu VS 603e on BPPC. |

And here a reply to the actual question ;-)
The reason for the 128 MB maximum on A3000/A4000 accelerator is, that that is exactly the adressspace that was reserved for the fast-slot by the engeneers of commodore. In theory you could do something similar to the addmem tools (in hardware) to access RAM in an adressspace outside of that window. P5 decided against that, as that would be a hack and they didn`t want to do this kind of thing, plus back then 128 MB was more then enough. The A1200 does not have this problem because they decided to use that kind of hack there though, as the designated adresspace for the A1200 trapdoorslot is only 8 MB and that was way to little. I`m not sure if the 256 MB limit is more a matter of 128 MB modules being the bigges available or if the memmorycontroller used only can adress that much RAM. To make it short: No there is no way to make an A3000/A4000 accelerator take more then 128 MB unless you are willing to redesign the whole memmorysubsystem of the card. |

Sorry to bring this old thread back but here is Blizzard PPC card which has faster memory bandwidth than a cyberstorm PPC.

Hmm, if memory isn't failing me, the CSPPC is faster than that.

Blizzard PPC further increase its memory performance over Cyberstorm PPC
http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/...e=flat&order=0 OFF TOPIC Blizzard 68k vs apollo both clocked at 80Mhz using old sysinfo Apollo card: 61.97 mips Blizzard PPC 68k: 62.45 mips
