Default Any California bay area Amiga techs?

Wondering if there are any Amiga techs left in the northern California (USA) bay area? I have two potential issues.
  1. I bought a Subway clock port adapter for my A1200 and the clock port pins are on the wrong side. I hear the pins need to moved from their current location to the unused pads adjacent to them. Can you do this?
  2. I have an A4000D. I wanted someone to look at the caps/and or replace them as well as try to figure out why my Cyberstorm MkI ram module just stopped working all of the sudden

If you think you can help, please get into contact.

Come to the Feb. 18 TOGA meeting in San Jose, and perhaps technician Duncan M. will take on the job for you.

Nyteschayde, how'd the meeting go? Am in the North Bay, and stumbled on this when looking for someone locally to replace the caps in my A1200!

Never actually made it out there. I still have the same issue and I'd love to find someone to do a recapping for my Amigas as well. Maybe I'll try to get out to the next meeting if there is one.

Thanks to the link in RobertB's signature, I dropped Randall Abel an email, asking him about the club, if random new people were okay to stop by, and also mentioned the issue I was having with the caps. Seemed like a nice guy, told me it was absolutely fine to come along to the next meeting, to bring the A1200 along if I wanted, and repeated what Robert said, that their tech Duncan may be able/willing to take care of the cap problem. Obviously, don't want to throw the guy under the bus and say he'll take care of it, but there's a meeting this Saturday down in San Jose at Mountain Mike's pizza, that I think I'll head down to.

Kolla, if you were here and able to replace my caps, then I would have given you far better beer than you had at beer week. (I'm a brewer!)

Awesome, another brewer! Nah, I have a bunch of boards myself that could need some recapping, new simm slots and other kinds of care, don't have the equipment. You'd have some stiff competition at SFBW though, you should've been at some of the events there with your brew, so maybe next year? I have many beer enthusiast friends in East Bay, mostly Oakland, and I visit them rather frequently.

Heh, you got to it before I could reply. Yes, The Other Group of Amigoids (TOGA) meets every month, usually on the third Saturday. Here are the details this month, straight from Randy:

The next TOGA meeting is next Saturday, July 21st. We will be meeting at Mountain Mikes Pizza (The one on Branham Lane in San Jose) Lunch will be at 11:30am followed by the meeting around 12:30. Lunch is around $7 each if you want to go in with the club. (Actually, people start gathering at 11 a.m., and the meeting ends around 2 p.m..)

I'll be bringing my Raspberry Pi computer to demo (http://www.raspberrypi.org).

Of course.

Duncan is a working man, so you can't swamp him with too much to take care of.

Longtime lurker here... I'd love to stop by the meeting as well, since I live in San Jose. What are these meetings like?

Does TOGA (or other Bay Area Amiga groups) have a facebook page or other web page where one can follow the activities? I'd love to come by if there's a meeting while I happen to be around

Very casual. After lunch, Randy will tell some of the latest Amiga news and show software from the club's library on the club's A3000 and/or laptop running UAE. Others will bring in their own hardware or software to show.

To the best of my knowledge, no Facebook page... just the regular TOGA website.

Thanks for all the info, Robert... wasn't able to make it down yesterday, the faucet in our kitchen finally lost the plot that morning, so had to make an impromptu run to Home Depot and replace the bloody thing. (For anyone who hasn't replaced their kitchen tap, getting the old one out is 99.99% of the job, grrrr...) but hopefully the next one.

Ah, we were wondering why the newcomers didn't show up. Anyways, Duncan examined an A3000 desktop (no problems in that one) from another user, gave a repaired A600 back to me (that one will be exhibited at the July 28-29 CommVEx), and took away an A2000 of mine that needs upgrading.
