Well there is good news.
You will find these on Ebay all the time and you should never have to spend more than $5 for a basic one that will do exactly what you want it to do. Sadly, I see none posted at the moment, at least no externals, but keep your eyes out.

How much have you been paying...
...and why have you been paying more? ![]() Now mind you, for the heavy duty external midi adapters with all the extra features, you are going to pay more, but all in all you can get the basic ones with In/Out/Pass Trough for dirt cheap! You can even build your own if from plans on Aminet.

I'd expect to pay $10-$20 for an original ECE something or other from back in the day. Has a fancy passthrough switch in the front. lol

There are schematics for building your own MIDI interface on aminet. The parts alone shouldn't cost you more than a few dollars as all it really consists of is some optical isolation.
http://aminet.net/package/docs/hard/MIDI-2.0 looks like a good place to start...

I forget what it was called now, but there was also a utility to read the pots on your proportional joystick and have them generate MIDI controller messages of your choosing.
Kinda like the old vector synths from back in the day.

Sounds like fun! I've been looking for something like that in the archives but have yet to find it. Have you heard of the MindEye? Now that's something I'd love to have!! http://www.nightvzn.net/portfolio/we...ml/mindeye.htm As for the Aminet guides to build your own MIDI Device: http://aminet.net/package/docs/hard/MIDI-2.0 http://aminet.net/package/docs/hard/SwG-MboX

What you want is this one: http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/amas
I still have one hooked up to my 1200 and it still works. |
