Wow, what an absolute crock that survey is. An average persons IQ is significantly more than 80, so theyve obviously handpicked responses/results to optimal effect.
As for any sort of "vs." nonsense in regards to browsers, they all have pros and cons. I actually like IE 7 and 8 and dont like Firefox, but that's down to taste rather than intelligence. Neither are flawless. All browsers borrow ideas from each other and all differ slightly from each other in terms of implementations of different standards. Anyone who argues otherwise is as stupid as the "survey" itself. |

went from Ibrowse to Opera and then onto Firefox where I have remained. Mainly because of the add-ons like adblock and flashblock. And because I can't be arsed learning another UI and another way to do the same thing, again.

I knew there was a reason why I prefer Opera to Firefox!
![]() On a more serious note, this reveals more about what computers have become, than it says anything about the current World of computing is like; somewhere in the 90's, things exploded and everyone had to get one. Not knowing why or how, those brave fools jumped straight into the fray, making technical support a job nobody wants and every 16 year-old kid on the block a self-proclaimed computer expert. This is not about stupid people choosing a specific browser - it's about stupid people buying computers at all. Back in '82, few, if any stupid people would buy a computer. Today we're having our entire computing experience adapted to the level of a bunch of blabbering dim-wits who don't even know what a web browser is. Sad, innit?

While we're comparing CV's, I've over 20 years commercial unix experience. Embedded, desktop, web applications. Hardware simulation. Various forms of assembly language. Yet I always end up finding other web browsers to be a complete waste of time. I'd rather waste my time doing something more interesting. |

In all the office-based jobs I've had, IE has been the only (officially supported) option for web browsing, and it's fine to use to get a bit of web browsing done in-between work tasks. Some heavier sites don't work so well with the version we use (IE 7 or 8, can't remember), but otherwise it's fine.
At home I mainly use Opera, with some usage of Firefox. My home web browsing experience is definitely enhanced by using these two browsers, tons of nice features that make browsing easier. One example off the top of my head is Speed Dial in Opera, if I want to open a new tab with YouTube I've got it set to Ctrl+7, Gmail is Ctrl+2, etc... Small things I miss at work include the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+T, which in Opera and Firefox re-opens the last tab you closed, useful if you closed it too quickly. For all those concerned about Chrome being a tool to collect your web usage data, there's a really simple solution: Use SRWare Iron. It's basically Chrome without the privacy issues. It's Amiga time!

Been using Chrome pretty happily. Used Rekonq for a while which is keen but (at least at the time) a bit unstable. Epiphany is excellent too

I'm the type of person that people except to run Linux or at least not IE, but I don't feel the need to conform to that stereotype. |
