USB keyboard and mouse on A3000

I figure this has probably been discussed before, but I'm going to throw it out there anyway!

Is there an adapter to convert the 5 pin DIN keyboard plug and the DB-9 mouse plug to USB?

The reason I ask is I have a KVM and would like to integrate my newly acquired A3000 into it when I get it up and running.

You have 2 options:

Get a Deneb USB card

Get an Xsurf ethernet card and get a subway USB expansion module.

I'd reccommend option one, and you'll need the poseidon USB stack.

Hey Curtis,

Yes, there is a way to connect a USB keyboard and mouse to your A3000. It is called a Deneb board and it fits in any Zorro slot of the Amiga of your choice. It has been highly praised and though I have one for myself, I have not had the time to re-setup and reconfigure my own A4000 so I can install and test mine. It should be a good solution for you if you have any empty Zorro slots you can put it into.

I may use mine for the same reason, as space is a premium and multiple monitors, keyboards and mice are a hassle to deal with.

For the mouse, I use a USB-to-PS2-to-Cocolino adapter. I am using a logitech optical mouse with this solution and the scroll wheel even works using the cocolino driver.

Is there something similar to the cocolino that adapts a standard PS/2 or USB keyboard to the 3000/4000/4000T ?

Might be, you could try a 3000 to 4000 keyboard adapter which I think is ps2 style and ps2 to USB?

You can get a USB mouse adapter which plugs into your Amiga mouse port and allows you to use any USB mouse or trackball from Retro Data, here - http://www.retro-data.com/adaptadorusb.asp

I use a Cocolino and Lyra 2 (via 5 pin din to ps2 adapter) with my 3000 and also with my 2 main 4000's, and these work great via several PS2 KVMs I have available, but not via usb adapters.
I have also used my 3000 with deneb via my USB KVM and it worked perfectly.

Neither are truly valid options as Deneb & Subway USB keyboards & Mice do _NOT_ work in games which are not OS friendly (i.e. WHDload)

gazgod & Rebel-CD32 have the right / best solution. Adapters which plug into the existing Keyboard & Mouse ports which will make them 100% compatible.
