Welcome 2 new women to the Amiga family, Grace and Beauty!

Any Amiga.org users have experience with the CDTV-II? This badboy may or may not be non-functional.

Is this the cost reduced version which was never supposed to exist?!!!

What's different about it compared to the usual CDTVs?
Correct, it was never released for sale.

The only Amiga.org user to have one (that I know of) is Oliver Hannaford-Day (Oli-HD) creator of http://www.cdtv.org.uk/ but I fear his is non working also.

What happens when you switch her on?

I get a little activity on the LCD (small rotating circle in the upper left hand corner) for a couple seconds when I turn on the power switch in the back. Then nothing until I hit the power switch up front when I get "CD-TV" on the lower left hand croner of the LCD, but that is it. It is completely unresponsive after that.

Do you suppose it needs to load the operating system from the cd disc before anything more?
Does the cd drive spin if you have a disc in the drive?

Can't put a disk in the drive yet, eject button is nonresponsive like everything else. I did just get a little information from the previous owner that there is an IDE module that is not currently hooked up and that the CDTV-II was indeed working when put into storage. I'm going to hunt down the IDE module and put it into place to see if she'll start up.

Thanks for posting pics,etc.
There are so many great product ideas in all fields of endeavor that didn't make it in the market ,sometimes for reasons unrelated to the product's merits.Usually it is lack of marketing or other capital shortages.

I'm inspired to dig out my CDTV.

Maybe one of the CD32s as well.

YOu didn't happen to find any SX32 in that stash?

@recidivist

Your welcome for the pics, if there are any picture requests now is the time to ask :-)

No sign of a SX32 yet, but I do have at least one CD1500 (CDTV Professional, makes CDTV a full computer) and a SCSI-TV.

Greg Scott of National Amiga used to have a working CDTV-II. I saw it in his office playing back an audio CD. He sold it to someone years ago, though. I should have bought it from him!!

I'm guessing the SCSI-TV is just a SCSI controller for the CDTV, but what the CD1500? Never heard of it, just the CD500 (you just got working) and the CD1000 regular CDTV...
