Default Hot (un-)plugging PCMCIA devices

Is it safe to plug in or unplug a PCMCIA device? Specifically a compact flash reader which is mounted. Is this safe both for the files on the card and for the PCMCIA port?

Yes, I remove and insert CF cards (with PCMCIA adapter) hundred of times without turning off the Amiga. No problems.
