Default problems importing miggy hardware into the UK

hi all,
i'm at a bit of a loss
i had stuff imported from Hongkong no problem. had to pay the duty to get it released, and then claimed it back. all ok. package arrived fine. so the system works.

i have another package on its way from Croatia via EMS, and according to the postal services over there, it left Croatia on the 12th of september. over a month ago.
UK postal services royalmail/parcel force have no clue with regard to my tracking number and was recommended "just to wait and see".
yeah, i know a fob off when i hear one.
and i see that parcelforce are unable to track international package numbers on their website.

anyway, i was wondering if anyone has any ideas of who to contact? or how to proceed from here? i especially like the "our adviser lines are open till 7:30pm" in yet when i call at just gone 6pm, "sorry all our help lines are closed". ffs.

Packages often get renumbered when entering the UK

Have you tried checking who the delivery partner is for EMS in the UK? It maybe DPD or Home Delivery Network

The guys who sent me the package and Croatia Post helpdesk have been most helpfull. this is what they've found out for me...

* the airmail option was used, so CroatiaPost expected a TimeOfArrival for such a shipment in GB to be 19/9/2008
* Croatia Post failed to recieve updated status from Royal Mail, so thats the reason they don't know any more from the time it left their hands
* There is no immediate idea of any kind of timeframe seeing as the package doesn't seem to have been registered at its destination anywhere beyond their services
* have all paprerwork, so can claim on postal insurance if needed

In otherwords, CroatiaPost confirmed it left Croatia on the 12/9/2008

* EMS Tracking number should be understood by Royal Mail, or at least they should be able to see what packages are due for the destination address.
* unable to claim any shipment in advance, but a query on the whereabouts of the package should be aimed at RoyalMail and customs service

i'm going to occasionally persue this untill 30 days have past, then i'm going to find out what the heck happened, as if it is here and in storage somewhere, then Royalmail say they charge £5 a day storage fee! eeek!

I think it would be very unreasonable of them to charge you £5 per day to store a package which they were supposed to deliver to you but decided to store instead (if that's what happened...)

It is highly likely it's stuck in Customs - in this case, just be patient & Customs will clear it. Reasons for slow clearance include incorrect documentation, ripped papers or wrong description.

It's possible the address on the parcel is incorrectly written - in this case, just be patient and Royal Mail will deliver it, or return to sender.

Give it at least 6 weeks from date of posting, then put a claim in to the person you bought it from.

Is there a Croatian site you can track your package at? When I send stuff to the UK from Ireland, I can track it at the Irish postal site. I can monitor its progress within the UK, even though I can't track it at all on the Royal Mail site. Maybe the Irish site would even work for your Croatian package.
