Good afternoon all,
I recently purchased an Amiga4000 from the US as a project machine and am looking to get it ready for use in Australia. Will it be as simple as swapping power supplies to 230 spec? ... or are there other pitfalls for young players involving the devices that also need consideration? regards, Anthony |

Just changing the PSU should do it. There's also a jumper on the motherboard to switch it to PAL if you so desire. Depending on your monitor, it may not be necessary.

G'day A4000 power supplies are few and far betwween in oz you can buy a stepdown transformer rated at 500watts and hook this up to your 110volt power supply and your miggy will run nicely or you can purchase an atx power adaptor from Amigakit and use an atx power supply this will also do the trick Matt was quite correct about the NTSC to PAL jumper switch change it and Bobs your uncle.
cheers

Wow. Thanks for the prompt reply. I was looking at the step down option, but was advised to get an internal since it (transformer) runs hot if it's on for longer than half a day. I landed myself a Cybervision3d with scan doubler which should allow me to hook her up to an LCD. (I hope). Picasso iv would have been nice though.
It currently has a 300W bigfoot but its for the 110v US standard. The Cyberstorm 060 board has SCSI board, so I wanted to make sure i had plenty of juice to max out my storage. I wish cloanto would go into hardware and resurrect the AAA project. Aint going to happen though. |

@Amithony
Do you have any documentation (specifications) for the CyberVision3D? A member of our Amiga Club has one. His monitor died a couple weeks ago and he wants to replace it with a LCD monitor. He already screwed up by buying one that just stared at him with a black screen. The website for it said it was only good for Bill Gates' machines (not even for a Mac!), so he's taking it back to the store. But, what to get? I have no experience with LCD monitors, and so have no advice for "me mate". George Wyche gwyche@io.com |
