Default Power A600 / other model on batteries?

Hello all...pretty sure this has been discussed but I cannot seem to find the info after searching amiga.org / aminet / google. Is it possible to power the A600 off of batteries instead of the power supply? If so..how?

Reason I ask is I have a few shows out of the country and need all of the space I can get for my baggage. I know it's not *that* much room but that can be used for toothpaste and some clean socks!

Thanks in advance!

You can buy a pico-PSU and feed the Amiga by a 12V battery, but in that case you need a motorcycle or car battery...

That's no good!

Surely I cannot be the only one to ponder this...

I'm pretty sure you can use a laptop battery (often 15-20v) that *may* fit inside the A600 you're lucky. Then, build a regulator that steps it down to the required 12 and 5 volts..

...And put somthing on it to monitor the voltage ;-)

You'll start getting odd things happening when that voltage starts dropping low.

BTW, "buck" regulators are the best as they actually convert the power, rather than dissipating the bit they dont need as heat.

Hodgkinson.
