English & Belgian Beers are the way forward, with German just a gnats whisker behind.
Ireland only have Guiness, God awful Caffreys 'Cream flow' bitter, and Harp Lager (God help us all). All my family come from NI but I wouldn't drink the beer even if I'd just crawled out of a desert!
Get yourself some decent Porters, or any Adnams brewery Real Ales.

You're all forgetting the mighty Tennents Super. A finer brew there never was. Not dissimilar to Duvel but at a quarter of the price. Alcoholics drink it all the time and those guys must know their beers eh?

Well, if we all liked the same beer, it'd be a boring old world of booze.
I personally find any ale (real or otherwise) served at room temperature vile.
Guinness leaves me cold too.
Having said that, I can appreciate that there is obviously something to be said for both as so many people love them.

They know value for money in terms of alcohol content, I'll give you that.

That said, I'd probably class myself as a functioning alky yet I'd rather drink my ain pish than a Purple Tin.

Don't get me wrong, I'm anything but a lager snob but there's a line....

Duvel (or, 'Duivel' in more up to date Dutch) means 'Devil'. And that's a pretty good description for that beer... Tastes good, but damn.....
