Looks like a really overcomplicated way to create a text file. Why not port a word processor instead? Or OpenOffice? (obviously more work, but will appeal to a wider audience so more likely to attract bounty donations and, more importantly, users...)

It was originally designed by Donald Knuth for use in environments that required the use of all mathematical symbols. It is useful for making calculus tests and other math-intensive publishing problems. It is used a lot on Linux and other environments and has been around since forever.
