Hi,

After reading the other thread about the A1200 in the show "Bones" (No, I've never heard of it either!) I wondered, is it possible to fit the 'guts' of a Black CDTV keyboard into a suitably painted (ie: black!) Amiga 1200?

It would look so cool...

I'd assume (never having dissected a CDTV keyboard) that the PCB is completely different to the A1200's, probably more like an A4000?

I guess if it would physically fit into the A1200 casing it would be simple to wire it up to the A1200 PCB (as I once did when I towered my A1200). If not, are the keycaps interchangeable with the A1200 key switches?

Would be a nice project...

look HERE :-p

*EDIT* The electronic board is not compatible at all so you have to pick key by key till you have almost all. ENTER and left SHIFT does not fit .... I just sprayed the 1200 ones but had to little time so the keys should be painted again....

Oh, good to see that the CDTV Keyboard arrived. The Keys match each other on the (german) qwertz layout, i thought they would do so on the qwerty also...

They are some of the coolest A1200's I've seen.

I would love to do that with mine, but lack the skills and, critically, the components!

How much would it cost for me to pay someone to do that for me> I.e. to supply and fit the CD_Rom, USB and (heaven forbid) the SD/FF...?

Excellent! ................simply excellent.............Please show off your Amiga more and post it around. THis is the way Amigas should be seen. I been wanting to paint my A1200 black just like a did my A600 a couple of years ago..................now I can see what it will look like :-) You know you can fit 3 USB ports in that spot where you cut your? Yes! believe it...........I myself cut 2 and am thinking of a 3rd...............you can use 2 USB ports at once on the Subway (I know they said you cant because of Power Consumption, but its working fine on mine with a Wireless Logiteck Mouse and a USB Thumb drive).

I placed my CDROM at the back though and may add the option of coming out the side too........But I really want the side for something else :-)

Look for "carbon vinyl" on e.g. ebay.
