Yup, thats normal. Commercial software was largely copy protected by Rob Northen Computing (he copy protected around 500 Amiga games). Workbench will recognise protected disks as "NDOS", "PDOS" or "MDOS". However it will not be able to read the disk because it uses a format not recognised by WB. Look for a disk copying utility (such as Disk Copy), preferably with dongle, and that should be able to copy the disk for you. It will copy the data across exactly as read from the source disk and you should be able to use your copy in exactly the same way as the original. I haven't backed up any of my games yet, but I did make a back-up copy of Simply A State Of The Art - an awesome graphical demo ![]() Regards, Lonewolf10 |

Team 17 have authorized Dream17 to legally release the CAPS ipf images of most of their Amiga games - including Alien Breed 2. However, I don't know of a way to get those images back onto a real disk.
What I've done is used UAE to install the games using WHDLoad on my A1 and then copied the installation over the network to my real Amiga. Probably the closest you can get to a complete backup at the moment. |

Well, that game is actually now available for legal download from the following site...
http://www.dream17.co.uk/softography.php ..even more so as you already have the original. You can then use this downloaded copy and keep your original disks in prestine condition by keeping them in a dust free, vacumme chamber within a static time bubble... or something... :-D |
