Default Epson and Canon Printer drivers

Back in 1999, when I got my first PC, I also got an Epson Stylus Photo 750 printer. I once tried using this on my amiga to print things from Deluxe Paint and Pen Pal, but I couldn't find a suitable driver so the printout wasn't perfect.

I now have a Canon Pixma ip4000 and would like to try and use that on the Amiga as well.

Does anyone know what printer drivers are suitable for these printers and if they will work on the Amiga 500+?

Thanks
Stephen.

Did a quick search. Couldn't find any canon driver for you, but this driver might work with the epson printer:

Guide claims it the driver works with WB1.3 and up...

I remember my old Canon BJC 250 even worked with the "EpsonQ" driver, but this way only b/w printing was supported. There are no native drivers for current printers and you'll hardly find an old driver supporting a new printer.

But there's a commercial software called TurboPrint supporting several Canon/Epson/Hewlett-Packard printers. It requires at least AmigaOS 2.04 (so the "standard" OS 1.3 won't work). Your Epson printer was on the driver list, but not the Canon one. However, there's a chance that a driver for the Pixma may follow.

you may also try:

http://www.ghira.mistral.co.uk/canon-and-amiga.html

CanonDisk398d.lha some drivers on aminet,i'm sure they won't support your new printer, but there may be one in there that will work.

also you might look for cannon studio by wolf faust,it was a good thing from days past,no idea where to get it,search google. it will probabaly be very old too and not have your printer support.it was a very good set of drivers for back in the 'day".

check your canon manual,i find most printers have a epson compatibility mode. if so you can usually get good results with it if you find a good driver and do some tweaking.

as stated above, turboprint is the most current and probabaly best solution.

hope that helps,
Mike

I have a copy of WolfFausts cannon studio. Due to it's age, there might not be drivers for your printer, but I'll look.

Hi Steve. I took a look at the Wolf Faust disk when I loaded the drivers onto my "new" A3000 HD, and there's nothing there that would help you. Sorry.
