Ok, I acquired a A3000T/040 toaster system...cool machine... has scsi issues I'm assuming. If I disconnect the scsi cable from the mobo the system goes to the usual 2.0 kickstart insert disk screen. If I plug it in it just never boots up.
The config is as follows: Mobo =====Tape Drive ==== HD1 ==== HD2 =====cable terminates to itself (plugs back into itself). Can someone explain to me what to look at.. I can take closeup pics if required. Thanks in advance.. -Alex |

That cable plugging back into itself sounds very unusual. Try plugging the end into an actual terminator, or leave it loose and try to throw a termination jumper on the second hard disk.

On mine the last drive on the internal ribbon needs to be terminated as well as the external scsi connector. There are terminating resistor sockets on the MB close to the external 25 pin scsi connector if you don't have the Commodore external terminator that shipped with the machine.
You can also connect a terminated external CD-Rom or other device to the rear connector. Simply put you need; <TERM---HD---TD---MB---EXT/DB25---TERM> or <TERM---HD---TD---MB---TERM---EXT/DB25---Nothing> At least mine works this way. It won't boot otherwise. Jeff |

On my 3000T, I have: Mobo--->IBM 4gig--->CD ROM---->NO Termination
there is also an unused connector between the HD and the CD ROM, that I sometimes connect another spare drive to, to back up the main drive. I never have problems booting with this setup. Wildstar1063 |
