Default Beginning BSD

I'm taking an old computer that's been just laying around and decide to put it to use as a server. I'm planning to install FreeBSD on it. Any knowledgable BSD users out there have an suggestions for someone just starting to learn about BSD? I'm looking for a good introduction to how it works and how the system files are laid out. Mainly it's going to be a mail and webserver, if that helps.
