Default Suggestions and feedback forum being closed

As of tomorrow, the suggestions and feedback forum will be closed. Originally intended to be a place to discuss positive suggestions and feedback, it has very quickly degenerated into a "slag off on the Moderators at every opportunity" area.

I find it very sad that both the intelligence and maturity level of a few individuals has once again ruined what was intended as a positive step towards opening up a dialog for the betterment of this site. In the future, we will simply have a feedback form on the site instead.

For all those who actually contributed to those threads in a constructive manner, thank you. To those of you who are continually petty and critical of this site and its' VOLUNTEER staff, please feel free to exercise your right to visit other sites and remove this one from your bookmarks.

We offer this site as a free service and we encourage free RESPONSIBLE speech, but there are limits to the things you can get away with here.

Have you guys looked into deleting abusers' accounts?

For you trolls and other abusers out there:

Maybe trolls is something we have to live with...

Just closing everything is just going to make things worse.. after all isnt that what they want?

Wayne,

Perhaps you just need to let things settle down for a while. When people see there's suddenly a designated place for making suggestions or bringing up issues where there hasn't really been before, they'll bring up things that have been nagging doubts or whatever. But once that's dealt with...

Having the forum here shows that you're willing to listen to ideas from the Amiga.org community, rather than have people resort to flaming mods in Talk-about. At least here people don't have the "but this is the DMZ!" argument to fall back on if they get modded for crossing "The Line."

And thats exactly what they are getting. I mean, ok trolls do your head in but this is worse. I agree that the feedback forum is a great idea, but we need to acgnowledge ( < bad spelling ) that these people are here and its gonna happen. I think closing the forum is a bad move... why must we all suffer? Just leave it open and ignore the trolls - job done.

you say that like its a bad thing.

I've been a troll for many years, I hope someday, maybe someday if I try hard enough, I'll be known as an attention whore instead.

<--attention whore in training.

BTW, if you've been on many sites, then you know this whole moderation whining never ends. I've never seen a site moderate so well, that the problem went away.

Eh.. I guess I missed the opening ?

No, what's sad is that those said individuals have won this one.. I understand the decision, but I do hope you reconsider. It could have given you (or the site) a good place for ideas and input..

Why not just ban those few individuals?
