Default A1200 Wireless network card

Howdy,

I'm close to putting in a decent sized order to Amigakit and was thinking of adding a wireless network adapter for the A1200 while I was at it. It would make getting WHDLoad slaved onto the machine much easier along with playing Dynamite and browsing Amiga.org.

Does anyone have any experience with this card?

http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/...roducts_id=121

how easy it is to set up to my wireless network, what sort of performance do you get from these PCMCIA cards etc?

Thanks,

Robert

Assuming it's a prism2 compatible card (I don't know of any others for Amiga) it should work well, a non-AmigaKit solution would be slightly trickier to set up (no GUI like the one they include.) I've never used that particular card, though.

One thing to keep in mind, they only support WEP encryption (unless something big happened since the last time I looked.)

Except if you happen to be familiar with some other stacks. Genesis and Miami do have pretty good GUIs anyway Wireless is as easy to set up in TCP/IP stacks as wired ones too. Only difference will be one extra line on user-startup for wireless init.

Right, and it's amazing how many people don't want to be bothered adding this manually! Probably because it requires reading the documentation.

From checking the box of my router, it supports both WPA-PSK and WEP. How can I find out which one of the two is currently being used though?

Personally, I'd rather use a wired card connected to some kind of WAP. Beats degrading your wireless network to WEP.

Lets say the most used addresses then, if nothing of these work, then consult your manual or check your settings for default gateway

http://192.168.0.1
http://192.168.0.254
http://192.168.1.1
http://192.168.1.254
