Is it legal to distribute parts of the workbench and system files per this tutorial in order to create a bootable disk for a custom developed game?

CU Amiga used to come with a bootable CD-ROM.
If it was legal for them, it should be legal for you. Either way, do it anyway.

I agree, although it seems like a gray area. I don't think Commodore ever had a problem with it.
See, yet another reason to get Aros up to speed

Commodore had an agreement you had to sign that allowed distribution of all or some of the Workbench files, so that's what happened then. I have no idea what it means today???

There was a license agreement somewhere that specified which files could be redistributed. Of course, none of that really matters anymore.

The only time you can buy a 'legal' copy of Workbench these days, as far as I know, is if you purchase Amiga Forever from Cloanto. Reckon they might be the only ones to object (but I very much doubt they would bother...)
![]() Myself, I say go ahead you'd have to be very unlucky to find anyone who would object...

Great thank you all for clearing this up. I have just finished configuring the emulator and am now starting to work on the game itself. I will post a thread when its ready for beta testing.
