As many ImageFX owners from the past few years can tell you the ImageFX manual was out of print and even hard to find used. The manual, although limited to ImageFX 2.0, was a treasure-trove of tutorials and references to ImageFX.
Now, after a massive effort in print-preparation, the ImageFX manual is available again! The manual now incorporates all ImageFX features from the 2.0 through the 4.5 Studio release in one perfect-bound volume now with over 500 pages. Lavishly illustrated and packed with tips, tricks, tutorials and more. Thanks to modern online print-on-demand services you can now order the manual directly from the link below. ImageFX 4.5 Studio has retained it's low price of $69.95 and now you can order the manual for only $49.95. A whole nickle below it's original price! Yay! A nickle! I already have the "old/original" paper manual with the black cover, and the addendum that came with it the light blue cover that covered some of the newer features. These have been invaluable.
So does this "complete" 4.5 manual have anything new for me in it, beyond what I already have in the two ImageFX manuals I own? Also, are the photos in this new manual colour or black and white? The old/original manual was black and white. Last edited by ral-clan; 01-12-2010 at 10:14 AM.. |

Thanks. ImageFX is still my main graphics editing application. For serious / commercial work too. I just used it under WinUAE to edit a 10000 x 10000 pixel image for an archaeological report.
Seriously folks - at $69 ImageFX is really worth purchasing. It still kicks ass even in 2010. |

Yes I think I will have to order a copy to go with my copy of ImageFX4.5 which works very nicely under OS4.1 using the new OS4 installer.
http://www.os4depot.net/index.php?fu...x45install.lha I think I will have to wait until next month before I can place my order but it is very good news that the manual is now available again as I have always felt I am only touching the surface of what ImageFX can do, even for me. I only use ImageFX for processing my digital photos to crop rescale, and make other small changes to them but I am sure could be doing more to them for a better effect.

The packaging for the VIC-20 Mega-Cart (www.mega-cart.com) was designed totally with ImageFX and layed out in PageStream last year.

At a higher DPI rate than the old manual, hopefully? Those are a bit rough.
Regardless, this is a fantastic idea - thanks for taking the initiative! I hope your sales are good and that other companies follow suit and set up on-demand print runs of more Amiga reference documentation. I would argue for keeping in references to old companion companies/products, though. In addition to the historical interest, it might be nice to know what exists for potential tracking-down-of-used-copies. Any idea who owns the rights to the Catalyzer videos these days? Would love to get a DVD release of those... |

It's 300dpi and always was. The rough look came from a bad scan of the masters which I did a LOT of work cleaning up for this print. It was also originally output from an Amiga in Pagestream when it only did 12bit output so the greys were limited. That I could not correct without having someone recapture all the screenshots. I was dedicated, but not that dedicated.

I´ve still got my original manual, although it´s a bit worn these days.
Had to survive without it for the last 2 years as it´s in storage in England and I´m in Spain. Will be interested in getting a new one in the next few months though.
