Default Attaching a switch to accelerator jumper pins

Hi,

I have a jumper on my A500 accelerator card, which allows me to switch it off so it falls back to 68000 mode. I'd like to add a switch to my A500 for easy switching between the two modes (i.e. without needing to open my A500 up every time).

I can solder the two wires directly to the jumper, but I'd rather not. I'd hate to damage my card and secondly it would look much tidier if I could use one of those switches that connect with a wire that I can slide onto the jumper. I've seen those before, but for the life of me, I have no clue where to find them. Anyone understand what I mean, what it's called or, even better, where I can order it online?

I think your best bet is scavenge the voltage selector of any AT/ATX PSU or even from any dead power supply of any kind of electronic appliance.

Yeah, best not to solder to the jumper as it'll never work with a jumper again...

You can get a whole bunch of those connectors from just about any old PC case - They are used for the LED's/switches on the front.

@ cpfuture
What accelerator is it?
most A500 accelerators has a software fall back.
I have a Derringer and it has a program called "boot68000" which reboots the machine in 68000 mode.
Using the switch you have to remember to shut off the psu before switching or you may damage your accelerator beyond repair....

It's a Viper 530 (aka E-Matrix 530). AFAIK it can only do hardware switching.

I wish more accelerators allowed software switching or something like holding down a mousebutton on boot. Drilling a hole and adding a switch is a pain. And ofcourse the risk of accidentally flipping the switch while the computer is in use, which could damage my Amiga and accelerator as you mentioned.
