Default Warp Engine scsi tools HD formatting problem

Tring to get a couple different HDs formatted on the Warpdrive.scsi chain. scsi tools errors while reading the drive - READFAILED: SC.scsi_status = 2

Initializing fails and the program/drive lock up. Also WarpDrive-ToolBox refuses to do anything with the drives, yet both scsi tools and WarpDrive-ToolBox see the drives. I've got to be doing something way wrong... not sure what, but it's botched up a couple drives. This happens on both the A3000D and A4000D, both equipped with Warp Engines and are set-up/jumpered the same.

Any one with a Warp Engine lend a few thoughts or procedures.

Wish I could help - I've never had to format a drive with my Warp Engine - just plugged in the existing drive. I do have a WE '040 28 mHz for sale if anyone is interested...

Side note - I love the monitor stand in your picture - exactly the kind of thing *I* would do!

Providing of course the drive is good to go. My problem is that I tink around too much and end up botching hardware...

This morning I pluged one of the drives back into the chain, switched on the system and up popped two uninitialized partions. Now I'm searching fo my Toaster CD.

Hi. I also have a WarpEngine on my A4000D. Only usefull thing I can share is that I had a bad time trying to get the termination working and ended up finding that some LVD acard adapters don't actually seem to provide termination. Also don't forget that the WarpEngine's termination is passive, but can be disabled by taking off the red resistors on the card (they're detachable). You'll have to provide your own termination in that case. So a thing to try would be to take off the resistors and try active termination, but it should work with passive, just make sure the hd you're using is also set to passive (?).

Can't remember of anything else.. oh wait. I just used the default AmigaOS tools, didn't need anything specific. Maybe the WarpEngine tools don't got too well with later versions of the OS (haven't tried it ) ?

Just a correction, the termination is not passive, there is a jumper to provide term power (Jmp1).
Whether the termination needs to be active or not the manual doesn't seem to specify. I remember there was more info on this somewhere but can't remember...

If the scsi drive terminators have to be powered by the scsi bus, then JP1 has to be closed.

Seems that the Scsi Tools that came with the card are causing RDB corruption when the program locks up tring to low-level format. (I hate the low-level format tools as they almost alwasy trash my drives, and I know that once low-level formated, ya shouldn't have to ever do it again...) The Warp_HDtoolBox errors with a statement saying that it can't handle this type of device. The drives do show up in the drive id scan of both utilities.

I modified a copy of HDInstTool and changed the ToolTypes entry SCSI_DEVICE_NAME=warpscsi.device. Salvaged 2gig scsi drive this morning. I also attemped to format one of the 9.1 gig drives with HDInstTool, but had to go off to work... will be attemping to format the 9.1 gig this evening.
