Default Is there any benefits to put same crystal oscillator on bppc card?

So is there any benefits to put same crystal oscillator on bppc card? For example my original oscilaltors are the following:

68040: 50Mhz. (so it is clocked at 25 MHz)
PPC603: 60 MHz ( so it is clocked at 210MHz)

Now i changed it to 66 and 66 Mhz oscillator.
(So now the cloks are 33MHz and 233Mhz)

But if i change the oscillator of the 68040, for example 69 MHz or anything else, is there any backward for the different clocks, or the "higher the clock is better"? (of course i want real speed advantage, not in sysinfo or sysspeed)

I cannot understand exactly what you mean...
faster osc -> more mhz -> more speed
if the bppc runs fine with the faster osc. then leave it , just cool it enough!

Default Re: Is there any benefits to put same crystal oscillator on bppc card?

If i running my 68040 at 33MHz - it will communicate with a 33MHz to the bus/memory etc. And if i set the ppc at 66Mhz, then the 68040 clock and the ppc clock will be in syncron. (33Mhz*2=66 MHz) (yeah i know it can operate with assyncron)
So if i set this mode, is my machine be faster than i set it with a different mode?

Will be no difference, since the processors are asyncronous. Maybe (I said: maybe) running it at syncronus clock you may have some issues when try to communicate with each other.

Just keep the two cool and you will have a very good speed up.

Like someone told me: don't get wishes: do it! Just keep in mind (again) the overheating of 040. 66/50= 1.32, means 32% more clock, and a LOT of heat more.
