Default Amiga motherboard repairs in the UK

Does anyone know of anywhere in the UK that does Amiga motherboard repairs, namely 2 A4KDs and an A2K? I emailed Analogic Computers (U.K.) Ltd but they say they don't do repairs but do "have many chips in stock" should I find somewhere. Theres just gotta be somewhere!

Thanks,

...
Phil

Hmm, I don't believe you will find anywhere in the UK now.
Your best option is send the boards to the Amiga repair center in France. Sounds like alot of hassle but I've heard countless people over the years praise the quality of their work.
Also you'll get a free diagnosis and quote!

The secret to getting Amiga motherboards repaired in the UK is diagnosing the fault. If you can localise the fault to "couple of broken tracks here" or "Some faulty capacitors there" then getting a non-Amiga repair company to fix them isnt an issue.

Hi,
AKIKO: Thanks for the link, if I can't find anywhere in the UK I'll try contacting them and get some info.

If anyone out there has dealt with: http://www.amigacenter.com/Homer.html, please let me know how you found there service.

ALEXH: That's what I was hoping, an IC replacement is the the same whether it's a PC/notebook or Amiga. One of the A4Ks doesn't recognise the RTC due to battery leakage (how it arrived from ebay). I'm not sure if it's actually the RTC (U178) itself, someone has soldered a diode from D177 to pin 16 of the RTC, or the RTC latch U177 next to the battery which had turned green due to to leakage. I could replace the RTC but my skills don't stretch to replacing the latch.

The other A4KD doesn't boot up at all now, see my thread 'A4KD just died, any help?'. No idea what's going on with this one. The A2K has no analogue video signal but does have a composite signal. I'd rather these go off to someone/somewhere who can repair them and give them a full diagnostic check.

Thanks,

...
Phil

I had Amiga Center France repair my A4000 early this year. They put the system back into like-new condition fixing problems with the processor card and Par: port, sound issues, and putting on a rechargeable coin battery for time/date. I shipped the motherboards to France for the free estimate. Shipping from California to France was a tad expensive, but given the quality of the work, and the lack of repair facilities, I'd work with JJ at AmigaCenter France anytime I need work done!

Good luck with your system issues!
Best,

Bob

Hi Bob,
Thanks for feedback on AmigaCentre France, good stuff. It's refreshing to hear that there is a company out there that is still doing Amiga repairs.

At the moment Paul Willingham (see earlier post) as very kindly agreed to have at look at them for me, but if there's still no joy then AmigaCentre France is my next step.

Thanks,

...
Phil
